BDS SA Commemorates Nazi Holocaust Remembrance Day
January 27, 2015, the Palestine solidarity and human rights organization BDS South Africa joined people around the world commemorating the 10th International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
August 2014, 40 survivors of the Nazi Holocaust published an open letter in the New York Times slamming the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian Gaza strip and supporting non-violent BDS boycotts against Israel. Signatories included: Nazi Holocaust survivor Suzanne Weiss, whose mother was murdered in Auschwitz.
Billions spent on Settlement projects in EC
The Eastern Cape Provincial Department of Human Settlements spent R1.5 billion Rand building subsidised housing, rectifying defects, and built Multi-Purpose Community Centres. “This figure is for building of new projects and rectification of defective houses during the current financial year 2014/2015,” says the Department.
8 521 housing units have been completed across the province for people earning less than R3 500.01 or have no income at all. 2 284 defective houses have been rectified.
12 979 houses will be built in the financial year ending March. Beneficiaries include the disabled, elderly women, child headed homes and military veterans.
